Pearl Harbor Survivor Receives

Token of Appreciation from Barona Resort & Casino

Barona Resort & Casino is proud to be the Title Partner of our Victory for Veterans home makeover campaign.

Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to express your gratitude and appreciation directly to one of the last surviving heroes of the Attack on Pearl Harbor.

The
County of San Diego's Aging & Independence, Nordson Asymtek, The Home Depot and KRC Rock are providing additional funding and leadership support.

Jim Bounds, 87, and his wife of 67 years, Ruby, quietly reside in their home unaware of just how grateful the people of San Diego are for his service to us all.

Greg Rubin of California's Own, is providing the landscape design elements related to drought tolerant plantings to help Jim use 90% less water for their yard. TurfPro Enterprises and Synthetic Lawn Supply are donating their time, materials, and services to provide an artificial turf installation for the couple.

On April, 10th, 2010, they will need to hold on tightly as they experience the outreach from their adoring community who wish to honor Jim and his wife with a one-day home makeover event. The San Diego County community, United We Paint, retirees, students, and local corporate citizens who will make it all possible.

It will be loud, fun and amazing as everyone creates the most inviting living
environment possible for the family of one of our national treasures.

A decorated Naval officer, Jim served more than 27 years protecting his country. On the morning of December 7th, 1941, Jim was aboard the USS Oklahoma as explosions roared closer and closer until multiple torpedoes hit and sank his ship.

The USS Oklahoma ultimately capsized, trapping Jim for 32 hours.  Come hear in his own words how he managed to survive one of the most infamous attacks in United States history.  Click Here For Jim's Full Story

Quite frankly, the day is rapidly approaching when the last of these survivors will be gone, and Americans will be unable to express our gratitude and admiration to them directly.

Join us, in bestowing on Jim Bounds, Pearl Harbor Survivor, a free home makeover including painting, landscaping, going green components, and much more. Professional direction, supplies, catered meals, entertainment, t-shirts, and certificates are provided.
